La masse de la Terre attire in\u00e9vitablement tout vers le sol, aussi surement que la pomme tombe invariablement de l&#8217;arbre vers le sol, c\u2019est la loi de Newton. Aussi surprenant que cela puisse para\u00eetre, l\u2019air a un poids. Le dioxyg\u00e8ne le compose \u00e0 20%, une mol\u00e9cule combinant deux atomes d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne. Aussi infime soit le poids de cette mol\u00e9cule, elle est attir\u00e9e par le sol.<\/p>\n<h2>Comment marche un moteur ? <\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pour r\u00e9sumer simplement, un moteur thermique produit l\u2019\u00e9nergie n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 la voiture par la combustion d\u2019un m\u00e9lange de carburant et d\u2019air. La diff\u00e9rence chiffr\u00e9e ? elle peut grimper jusqu\u2019\u00e0 une perte de 8% tous les 1 000 m\u00e8tres pour un moteur atmosph\u00e9rique. Pas de quoi emp\u00eacher de rejoindre une station de ski (vous l\u2019avez remarqu\u00e9) ou tout simplement de circuler \u00e0 La Paz, la capitale de la Bolivie perch\u00e9e \u00e0 3 600 m\u00e8tres d\u2019altitude.<\/p>\n<h2>Dans quelle mesure ?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L\u2019altitude n\u2019occasionne de v\u00e9ritables g\u00eanes qu\u2019en sport automobile. On pense bien-s\u00fbr aux courses de c\u00f4te (Pikes Peak s\u2019ach\u00e8ve \u00e0 plus de 4 000 m\u00e8tres) mais aussi en Formule 1 o\u00f9 la m\u00e9canique de pr\u00e9cision demande une attention toute particuli\u00e8re. Le circuit d\u2019Interlagos est perch\u00e9 \u00e0 quelques 800 m\u00e8tres au-dessus du niveau de la mer et de Sao Paulo. Le turbo parvient-il \u00e0 g\u00e9rer le manque d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne du V6 ? Oui et non puisque pour maintenir une pression constante dans turbocompresseur et le compresseur, il doit tourner \u00e0 un r\u00e9gime proche de la rupture et ceci durant tout un grand-prix !
