Revenons en 1981 et 1982, lorsque le Caesars Palace de Las Vegas avait son Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Les \u00c9tats-Unis et la Formule 1, c\u2019est un peu \u00ab<em> je t\u2019aime, moi non plus <\/em>\u00bb. La discipline reine n\u2019a jamais r\u00e9ellement r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 s\u2019y imposer, en t\u00e9moigne l\u2019instabilit\u00e9 des circuits et de sa pr\u00e9sence au calendrier. D\u2019Indianapolis \u00e0 Sebring en passant par Long Beach, Phoenix, Watkins Glen ou derni\u00e8rement le circuit des Am\u00e9riques \u00e0 Austing. La Formule 1 a aussi mont\u00e9 son chapiteau \u00e0 Las Vegas. En 1981 et 1982. Comme \u00e0 Long Beach, il ne s\u2019agissait pas d\u2019un Grand Prix des \u00c9tats-Unis (West USA pour Long Beach), mais du Grand Prix automobile de Las Vegas se tenant sur un circuit urbain du Caesars Palace. Plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment sur le parking de l\u2019h\u00f4tel casino. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autosphere.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/e8980284584063b1fa2d2d988a35ef93.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Compte tenu du manque de place (relatif), le circuit se voulait extr\u00eamement ramass\u00e9 puisque tenant essentiellement sur l\u2019immense parking du Caesars Palace. 3 650 m\u00e8tres compact\u00e9s en 14 virages et tournant dans le sens trigonom\u00e9trique, une raret\u00e9. Sinueux, la trac\u00e9 se voulait incroyablement lisse tout en laissant suffisamment d\u2019espace pour d\u00e9passer et des bacs \u00e0 sable en&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosphere.fr\/blog\/media\/sport-auto\/quand-les-zones-de-degagement-ont-remplace-les-bacs-a-gravier\/8821\/\">d\u00e9gagement<\/a>. Il fut rapport\u00e9 que le trac\u00e9 fut particuli\u00e8rement exigeant pour les pilotes. La chaleur oui, mais aussi les G pris qui ont abouti pour beaucoup \u00e0 des douleurs au cou. Tout particuli\u00e8rement pour Patrick Tambay qui n&#8217;a pas pris le d\u00e9part en 1982. C\u2019est notamment en d\u00e9passant la Renault d\u2019Alain Prost (poleman) que Michele Alboreto, sur Tyrrell-Ford, remporta son premier succ\u00e8s (sur 5).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pour autant des 27 engag\u00e9s sur la ligne de d\u00e9part le 25 septembre 1982, seuls 13 pilotes furent \u00e0 l\u2019arriv\u00e9e apr\u00e8s une avalanche de casses moteur, de ruptures de suspension et quelques sorties de piste comme la F1 nous en offrait autrefois. Idem en 1981 (sur 24 d\u00e9parts). Lors de cette premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition, il fut rapport\u00e9 que Keke Rosberg, bien qu\u2019officiellement champion du monde \u00e0 l\u2019issue de la course, eut besoin de nombreuses minutes pour se remettre de l\u2019effort.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La forte chaleur a influ\u00e9 sur la course et dissuad\u00e9 de nombreux spectateurs. Il fut constat\u00e9 \u00e0 Las Vegas la plus faible affluence du championnat 1982 avec environ 30 000 spectateurs.<\/p>\n<h2>La F1 de retour au Caesars Palace ? <\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Si Bernie Ecclestone r\u00eave de Las Vegas au d\u00e9triment de Monza, le retour \u00e9ventuel de la Formule 1 dans le Nevada ne se tiendrait certainement pas sur un circuit temporaire au pied du Caesars Palace. Du moins, peut-on l\u2019esp\u00e9rer ! Sur un tel trac\u00e9, la F1 d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui ne pourrait offrir qu\u2019un spectacle (tr\u00e8s) ennuyeux. N\u00e9anmoins, le Las Vegas Speedway n\u2019est pas une option pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable : Un D-Ovale de 2 414 m\u00e8tres (pouvant certes accueillir 156 000 spectateurs) comprenant une partie sinueuse en son sein.
