Des plus anciens \u00e0 l\u2019actuelle gamme en passant par quelques savoureux concepts. Pi\u00e8ce maitresse de cette exposition, le Renntransporter sort de l\u2019ordinaire. Un camion construit sur mesure afin de transporter la W 196 de Juan Manuel Fangio lors du championnat du monde de Formule 1 en 1955. Ou comment Mercedes, sous la houlette d\u2019Alfred Neubauer, avait le soucis du d\u00e9tail logistique il y a plus de 60 ans d\u00e9j\u00e0.<\/p>\n<h2>Patchwork Mercedes<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autosphere.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/38c50c00224f515644c28c991166ad56.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le moins que l\u2019on puisse dire, c\u2019est que ce Renntransporter est un savoureux patchwork Mercedes-Benz. Sous ses lignes \u00e9tonnantes, avec ses immenses porte \u00e0 faux, se pr\u00e9sente un v\u00e9hicule assembl\u00e9 avec notamment le ch\u00e2ssis de la limousine 300 S tandis que la cabine reprend les \u00e9l\u00e9ments de la berline Ponton apparue en 1953.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autosphere.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/660ebd59b05258ca6df1ee2c6466eb93.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L\u2019ensemble roulait gr\u00e2ce au moteur 6 cylindres 3,0l de la 300 SL \u00e0 portes papillons, la puissance fut n\u00e9anmoins ramen\u00e9e de 240 \u00e0 192 chevaux, suffisant pour atteindre les 170 km\/h de vitesse de pointe. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autosphere.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/f7fe37101fe4a01aee1b39990ed0de3f.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">V\u00e9ritable ligne de vie entre l\u2019usine et les circuits, ce Renntransporter a notamment d\u00e9montr\u00e9 toute son utilit\u00e9 dans un savoureux aller-retour entre Monaco et Stuttgart afin de ramener en catastrophe une monoplace W 196 \u00e0 Hans Hermann, l\u2019Allemand avait en effet d\u00e9truit sa voiture au virage du casino lors des essais libres du jeudi en marge du Grand Prix de Monaco 1955. Sa jambe bris\u00e9e l\u2019\u00e9loigna cependant du sport automobile pour le reste de l\u2019ann\u00e9e. La monoplace venue de Stuttgart fut finalement confi\u00e9e au Fran\u00e7ais Andr\u00e9 Simon, transfuge de Maserati, qui ne termina pas la course sur probl\u00e8me m\u00e9canique. Un manque de chance qui se propagea jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Stirling Moss (9e et dernier class\u00e9) et Juan Manuel Fangio (auteur de la pole position) victime de sa transmission d\u00e8s le deuxi\u00e8me tour. Pour autant, le strat\u00e9gie du directeur sportif Alfred Neubauer \u00e9tait de mettre suffisamment de moyens afin de se pr\u00e9venir au maximum le manque de chance. Le r\u00e9volution logistique est en marche. <\/p>\n<h2>D\u00e9moli, puis reconstruit<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autosphere.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/f8bc55b6d6f91398191e1dc35fe92f48.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pour autant, le transporter de course (traduction litt\u00e9rale de Renntransporter) fut assez rapidement remis\u00e9. D\u2019abord aux \u00c9tats-Unis o\u00f9 il balada une 300 SLR pour une op\u00e9ration promotionnelle avant qu\u2019il ne soit remis\u00e9 aux oubliettes, puis d\u00e9truit sur ordre de Rudolf Uhlenhaut en l\u2019absence d\u2019un Mercedes-Benz Museum.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.autosphere.fr\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/d9605ac77cf8bc766b2b437a727a10a4.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ce ne fut qu\u2019en 1993 que Mercedes entama un processus de reconstruction. Sauf qu\u2019en l\u2019absence des plans originaux, ing\u00e9nieurs et m\u00e9caniciens durent travailler \u00e0 t\u00e2tons.
